Master of Science (Nursing)
The master's degree program is offered in conjunction with MU Graduate School and is part of a long tradition in graduate education at the University of Missouri. The master's program in nursing admitted its first students in 1968. As of May 2008, 1,020 students have graduated from this Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)-accredited program.
The program is designed to empower its graduates to:
- Practice professional accountability and behavior consistent with advanced nursing practice standards.
- Integrate essential knowledge into advanced nursing practice from nursing and other disciplines.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively to promote health and improve healthcare delivery.
- Incorporate facets of a specific advanced nursing practice role to serve selected populations.
- Critique and assimilate research, technology and informatics as a basis for promoting health and improving healthcare delivery.
- Advocate for all persons in need of nursing or health care regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, and military veteran or socioeconomic status.
