Lee's Summit nurse nominated for MU nursing award

COLUMBIA , Mo. – Anne Marie Ondak, of Lee's Summit, Mo., was recently nominated for the 2008 Nursing Alumni Organization's RN-to-BSN Nursing Award for Overall Excellence from the Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri . The award recognizes potential for clinical proficiency, academic excellence and professional commitment.

For 24 years, Ondak has signed RN behind her name and she has accomplished the professional goals she's set for herself including being a flight nurse for LifeFlight Eagle in Kansas City. After seven years as a flight nurse, she assumed the role of clinical manager in 2005 and has been responsible for the medical personnel and the clinical excellence of the air ambulance program. Now she is ready to tackle the certified registered nurse anesthetist role, and has stepped down from her management role to dedicate more time to her educational pursuits.

“One of the requirements of becoming a CRNA is having a bachelors of science in nursing,” said Ondak. “Being a diploma nurse has served me well over the years, but I am ready for that next step, a BSN and then on to graduate school.”
