Derby student receives nursing scholarship from MU Sinclair School of Nursing

COLUMBIA, Mo. –  Stacey D. Howell, Derby, received the Virginia P. Hagemann Endowed Nursing Scholarship from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing. This scholarship is awarded to graduate nursing students who are studying to become pediatric nurse practitioners or clinical nurse specialists. Recipients have maintained a high grade point average and possess a passion for pediatric nursing. Hagemann is a professor emeritus of nursing.

“I feel extremely honored to be this year’s recipient of the Virginia P. Hagemann Endowed Nursing Scholarship,” Howell said. “It is rewarding to receive this scholarship and know that my hard work is recognized. I am incredibly fortunate to have the support from MU and others so that I can achieve my personal and professional goals as I aspire to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.”

A 2001 graduate of Derby High School, Howell is the daughter of Barbara Shenill and Gary and Sheri Sanders. She is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing at MU. Howell works as a registered nurse in the intensive care nursery at Children’s Mercy Hospital and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
